People fighting for the future of life on our planet should be celebrated - but climate activists in Afghanistan are at huge risk.

A year since the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, climate activists have been forced into hiding, have had to flee their homes and are in fear for their lives, and their families’ lives

The UK Government has offered no hope of safe passage – even people who worked for programmes funded by the UK’s Foreign Office, and who are now at risk as a result, have not received any support from the UK Government in the year since the takeover.

It is long overdue that the UK Government steps up and protects people. We are calling on the Government to create safe routes for all seekers of sanctuary, and to expand the Afghan resettlement scheme to explicitly include those at risk due to their activism in Afghanistan.
